Autumn fertilisers help plants prepare for winter. They contain little nitrogen, which would push soft new growth, and more phosphorus and potassium to help shoots ripen and roots strengthen. They are used on lawns, conifers, ornamental shrubs, fruit trees and soft fruit bushes.
